Oil on panel, 2005. This painting is based on a still life by 17th century Dutch Master Willem Kalf. Although I am calling it finished, I may still refine the detail on several areas (e.g. the lemon and the rug).
This is a detail of Botticelli's wonderful Annunciation, which I will be trying out as a learning exercise. It is going to be painted in egg tempera on a gesso panel. So far, you can see the prepared panel with the basic line drawing transferred onto it. My next step will be to refine the tonal underpainting tonally, using a verdacchio shade, before adding colour.
